The Sign above states “In Romania the Romanian language is not facultative”.

Language hate is still paramount in Romania, it mostly occurs together with  Language violence, which is a phenomenon unknown to people, who grew  up in the free world, not in an isolated dictatorship like Romania used to be till 1989.  It is also a barrier to interethnic contact. Speakers of the Hungarian language frequently encounter aggression.

Although 99 % of Romanians might condemn  language hate acts, such as spitting someone in the face for speaking Hungarian in public or throwing garbage at someone who speaks Hungarian.  These acts  are still committed in the name of the Romanian language and speakers of the Romanian language enjoy the fruit of this violence through the fact that the economical value of the Romanian language increases as a direct result of language aggression, since ethnic Hungarians don’t dare  to use the Hungarian language freely, which results in a disproportional lower demand for consumer services in the Hungarian language on the Romanian market.

Other autonomous Europeans can freely use their language and European consumer rights. ( example Frisians in the Netherlands, Germans in Italy and Belgium, French minority in the Benelux, Swedish speaking Finns, Basks in Spain, Welsh in England, Hungarians in Slovenia etc. )

Although language aggression happens on a daily basis, such a kind of aggression is not encountered by monolingual Romanians when they are living or working in another EU country.

Monolingual Romanians are free to stay as long they want in the Netherlands, Since there is no obligation for a Romanian in the Netherlands or Europe to master  Dutch or Frisian or a neutral international language like English, German or French at a basic level. There is no obligation for them to speak any of these language, since as EU citizens they are free to move and stay wherever they want in the European Union.

Monolingual Romanians enjoy their European citizen rights, in contrary to Hungarians speaking Europeans in Romania they are not subject to xenophobia, racism and chauvinism. The sign on the wall reads Hungarians out of the country ! Romania for the Romanians !
